My mates got a SWB Paj, 2.5 on a P and even though it,s a SWB he,s crying about getting 17-19 mpg, my 3.0L 2nd gen Surf driven right is returning 23-25, more on a run or motorway. He bought the wrong one.

I had a Shogun 2.8tdi as a company car years ago, it drank like a rugby team on tour

I'm running around in this as its better on fuel around town than my 3rd Gen

I agree with Nero, think about a Vitara or a RAV4 or something else girly.

You could always consider something dirt cheap like a Lada Niva or old Kia Sportage too.

                    Like this

or this, which is a total bargain I reckon.

he wants to do a bit of offroading, so vitara and rav 4 are out. we've been looking at a few more samurai's and he likes the look of a few of the more heavily modded ones, and if the paj's cost the same as a surf to run and he can come to terms with the fuel economy (lack of it that is) then the winner is obvious.
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

I've had both a moded Vitara and a couple of SJ's and they were awful on fuel once moded for off road. My last SJ could only manage 16-18mpg on a run to France, IMHO I would rather of had the sound of a V8 for the same fuel ecconomy
