dont know if you noticed but a lot of police nowadays are young kids. fresh out of hendon around here. i cant help but think they have eyes for the 26k starting salary only.
someone i went high school with, was

when i was arrested (the only time ive been arested) the woman offered to drop me back home after i had been to the station. i should have let her - she was gorgeous

I agree, they don't seem to be interested in "to protect and serve the community"

and dont get dipped with fuel that is a reddy colour.

(i once used so much reddex that my petrol went red! lol)

as long as they dip and its fine then they wont have reason to check the filter or any pipes.

they had trouble getting the derv/veg out of my tank and was about to start taking bits off the engine. lucky for me he got some out eventually.
i would rather the police not take up part time mechanics on my car.

except the traffic police, theyre the nuts. 'police mechanics'
      they aint no mechanics!!!!!!

Having recently suffered a break in at home, I can only speak as i find and all the officers and scene of crime have done their best. unfortunately they are up against more and more low lifes that work the " you have it I want it" attitude, which must get them down as much as it does any of us.

Showing them the letter (or a copy of it) is kind of like doing their job.

They enforce the law ffs; surely it's not too much to ask that they actually know what it is they're enforcing?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

The problem with this being that human brain capacity is limited. I'll challenge anyone to recite every section of british law word for word, and not only recite it, but understand it aswell.

This is why we have the courts system, so if you believe you are in the right you have the option to go to court. The only reason it's got expensive to go to cout is because people try to abuse the system and pay the best lawyers to get em off even when they are guilty.

Yeah, if they are specifically doing a stop and dip, is it too much to ask that they're briefed what is legal and what isn't. I can sort of understand if it was a random stop situation, but not when they're doing specific dipping.

Oh I’d just love them to stop me. The conversation would probably go like this:

Police: Sir we have stopped you and would like to check your fuel tank.
                          Me: That’s fine
Police: Sir are you using diesel?
                          Me: NO!
Police: Sir, is it vegetable oil?
Me: Most certainly not! Do I look like the sort of cheapskate who uses cooking oil?
Police: Well Sir, we are going to dip your tank, please open the flap.
                          Me: There you go
Police: Sir, Just what is this fuel in your tank????
Me: Unleaded PETROL…. we don’t all drive slow, stinky, noisy diesels you know!
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

My point was maybe badly put.

As Slugsie said, if they are carrying out a specific campaign, they should know (or at least have someone with them who knows) the relevant part of law.

Aye that's a fair point, i won't disagree with you on that. If it was a random stop though it'd pehaps be a little different?

                                Another thing I was thinking.

If Mr Plod stops you and decides he thinks you've used red diesel in the past, checks an injector line and sees it is indeed stained. Is he at liberty to confiscate your vehicle, whether-or-not it was you who'd put the red diesel in it.
