Tank Dipping

Local police are out tank dipping in Plymouth.

Thanks to Gerblet I got dipped

Someone decided to be nosey "Drive past to see what they are doing", "You'll be OK"

I got pulled & dipped.

Next question from them "What are you running apart from diesel?"

Reply "Veg oil mixed in"

Their reply "That's illegal - you have to be registered"

My reply "Not anymore as long as using less than 2500L a year"

One phone call to customs later all is fine & local traffic now aware of veg oil limits


Not so good for the bloke with the white van running red diesel they had pulled in front of me!!!

it went like this ( it took place during 5omph winds and rain)

Cop beside my car, window down about six inches "Sir, you only have one headlight"

"I know, the others broken"

"I'll have a look"

Goes for a look holding onto hat

"So it is, you need to get that fixed, goodbye"

i have been stopped and tank dipped twice recently, they are catching loads of red diesel users round here.

i think that it permanantly stains any clean metal parts, sometimes the filler pipe, dont know if they think you have been using red they can pull out an injector or something, or they can only act if you actually have red in the tank

if you lived round here you would want more traffic police. the roads are full of speeding,drunk, uninsured, untaxed, no moted foreigners.!!!

I am glad this came up as i have been wondering weather to get the HM Revenue to send me a letter confirming this to keep in the surf for such an occasion.

Short story*

This week late at night i was driving home along the motorway m20, two police cars past me doing excess of 120mph then they pulled/ screeched off at the channel tunnel exit parked up and got out laughing at each other. Basically they were racing each other down the motorway! I was very tempted to stop and take there details etc but i wasn't 100% sure re Veg oil. Then just round the corner from my home there was a police car in the middle of the road blocking both sides. They had pulled over a car with two lads in it. (Not boy racers just young lads). Anyway i waited there to observe them going over the car with a fine tooth-comb the police car had no blues on and they were basically harassing the lads. I have had this done to me many times before normally when there stats are low! Anyway the sight of this made me very angry particularly having just seen there colleges racing on the m20. So with veg oil in mind i cautiously* boll*cked the police for blocking a public highway and asked them to move. The look i got from the police was great! and the two lads couldn't help from laughing at them, and reluctantly they gave the driving license back to one of the lads and got back into there police car. I them made them reverse 50 yards up the road to let me through.

It cheered me up no end But i would have made more of it had i been 100% sure on legal side for veg. (I didn't want to push my luck)

I used to be very positive toward the police but over the last few years they have done so many appalling and despicable things in Kent and times when i have needed them they have let me down, that i have no time for them now.

the thing is dont put it in red.

and dont get dipped with fuel that is a reddy colour.

(i once used so much reddex that my petrol went red! lol)

as long as they dip and its fine then they wont have reason to check the filter or any pipes.

they had trouble getting the derv/veg out of my tank and was about to start taking bits off the engine. lucky for me he got some out eventually.
i would rather the police not take up part time mechanics on my car.

except the traffic police, theyre the nuts. 'police mechanics'

at the end of the day they are just people like you and me. i sometimes make mistakes during my daily duties but we do expect the police to be a little bit better at that sort of thing.
in my experiences with the police it seems that whenever someone does anything wrong towards me or my family then i get no resolution.
but the minute i fart in the wrong place theyre on me.

dont know if you noticed but a lot of police nowadays are young kids. fresh out of hendon around here. i cant help but think they have eyes for the 26k starting salary only.
