  • How much would i need to have in the piggy bank?

I have now got the Surf (1 week) now i want/need the mods.

The only extra bit of kit i will need within the next 8-9 weeks is a winch but i would like to get the following done before the summer and was wondering how much roughly i need to have put aside in the piggy bank?

winch, winch bumper, 2" body lift, 2" suspension lift, bash plate.

I would like to run the largest possible tire's without altering the wheel arch. Also i currently have v nice alloys and would prefer alloys to steel rims(no hairdresser jokes please). I would like an excuse to have a bigger lift but not sure how this will affect the drive.

    all advice most welcome.

From the other posts i gather TonyN is the chap to see but not too sure how far from Folkestone, Kent?
If it can be broken it can be fixed

TonyN is in Basingstoke so not that far from you really. The largest tyres you can fit with a 4" lift will be 33's

For the Winch bumper contact L.A.Supertrux mate, They will have some in stock soon i believe!! should be great.

winch - Nero should know! hes a legend with links to random off road sites no one knows!

As Rich said a 4" lift normally accomadates 33" tyres.

I would have words with Antsheil. I remember him asking about a 3" body lift over his 2". So if you doing a body lift, make sure you get it right to avoid re doing it!

ALSO - 99.99% of winch bumpers will have pi$$ all to do with the body - so a gap will be formed when you do a body lift. I dont know about the supertrux one, but if you got £££ to burn then the TJM t17 bumper i know for a fact can be made to suit body lifts.

                a wee word on winches.

If you were fitting a permanent front mounted winch it might be worth getting uprated torsion bars to deal with the extra load over the front end.

                Roughtrax do em.

I think your right on that!

i was looking at a winch that was rated at weighing 37kgs. Im not sure if thats heavy or light for a winch! But that weight just sat on the very front of the truck is going to have an effect on the suspension.

EDIT: were talking 3rd gen here! No torsion bars!! Its all coilovers right?

Buy a kenetic rope as good as a winch in most circumstances

Its something that would make my life a lot easier, I move/position a fair bit of heavy gear fairly regularly, it would be easier to do with a winch.
