How fast can you drive in 4 wheel drive Hi range? What I mean is is ot OK to drive at normal motorway speeds 75 -90. I'm thinking with all the forecast for snow this weekend, I might be driving on M-way.

I think it's about 45mph max. But then you wouldn't want to go faster than that in snow anyway......would you?

sorry i'll rephrase my question.
Can you engage 4 wheel drive in HI range when you are traveling at motorway speeds 75 - 90 mph, as some new vehicles which use Constant 4WD. I dont mean I want to bomb around in a blizzard at 90, I mean when its lightly snowing or heavily raining, for extra traction ?

Still doesn't change the fact that you should be adapting your speed to the conditions. Around 50 kph, I believe, is the max speed for switchover.

anymore than 80 in perfect conditions is feckin' ridiculous in something the size of a surf (that goes for 4x4 bmw's too, but we all know bmw drivers are invincible which is why they all drive like complete knobheads) so when you're already expecting poor road conditions, it might be worthwhile spending your time thinking about slowing down to 55 - 60 max and keeping a BIG distance between cars. if you ever need to use 4WD on a motorway due to snow, you shouldn't be doing more than 20mph, coz 4WD will move you forward ok, but you'll still take a long time to stop!
