Think that second one is just a 3rd gen body on a heavily modded chassis with solid axles!

Those propshafts must be at some extension!!!

Nigel at L.A.S said they could do it for £1126 all in that included approx £200 for an axle supplied by the customer!

A big part of that is the cross-over steering, the standard solid axle setup isn't good for much lift, the steering draglink is to short, and on the same side of the axle as the steering box. 3" of lift and the axle at full droop leaves the steering wheel and box at full lock, but the wheels hardly turned. Also you suffer from horrible bump steer over potholes in the road.

Using a IFS steering box and running the drag link to opposite side of the axle means the axle can move up and down without upsetting the steering geometry to much.

But a SAS'ed 2nd gen 3.0TD on 35's would be an awsome tool offroad, which is why I started doing it on the grey 2 door. Plenty of axle movement virtually does away with the need for a locker on 90% of any offroading you'll do in the UK.

It is a good job, but I wonder what the cost would be and is it really worth it in the long run - cost against benefit that is!

                              Cheers, Nick
