  • 2nd gen and 3rd gen surfs??

    Hi everyone
I know that 2nd gen and 3rd gen surfs mean the generation of surf, but can anyone tell me what the difference is and how to tell when looking at a surf. Does it go on the year? or the cc? I know this is a daft question, but i'd like to know please.
    Thanks for your help.

2nd gens will not have a full selection of hair styling products in the glove box...a 3rd gen will.

with the age shown yours will be a 2nd gen - the best check is to see if the tailgate opens up or down, the 2nd gen has it opening downwards.

If it's 93, it's 2nd gen. Easiest way to tell (or at least describe in text) is that the tailgate goes down on a 2nd gen and up on a 3rd gen.

Tailgate drops down on a 2nd gen, lifts up on a third gen.

Couldn't resist being the 3rd to answer that lol

and if it's a 3rd gen it's likely to have a very nice hairdresser behind the wheel

Thanks for that....clarifies what i needed to know. I know you guys say that the 3rd gens are better, but given the tailgate information i think i might prefer the 2nd gen.....sorry guys.
Thanks again for all the useful info.

Who said that? They may be technically 'better' but they are actually worse. Fact.
