Its difficult to quote without looking at the job. There are so many things to take into consideration. Mains equipotential bonding, load of tub, which determines the size of the cable, whether you already have an RCD protected board, etc, etc.
The only thing I can recommend is to get a few qualified sparkies (preferably NICEIC approved) to give you quotes. You'll know the right contractor for you when you meet him, and it wont be based on price, trust me. You can run the quotes by me if you want, but cost varies in different parts of the country. Does breakdown live near you?

possibly, if you agree with your contractor first. The cable has to be marked with marker tape before you bury it. he'll want to see that first.

Phew! I didn't think it would be this involved. I'll have to decide if it's worth the hassle/money as it's for my holiday house - well used by my sons and their various girlfriends but I don't get a lot of time there myself.

Friend of mine has one, it's gorgeous on a calm autumn night. Hardly bother in the summer though. I reckon i would actually use it more over the winter than the summer if i had one.

can't understand some of the replies on hear daily checks?? I use Bromine as clorine makes me itchy, fill up my chemical floater once a week, check with a dip stick about once a fortnight, add PH chemical about once a month, refill it every 3 months and use it all year round under our Gazebo, we have a 550 litre spa.

Kids love it so do we, so nice being out in it in this weather.

Recomended by the manufactures to check daily so you can't sue them (legionaires desease) also depends on how heavily used and if you shower before you get in them (suncream perfumes hair gel etc can affect chemical balance)

once you get use to them and know how you use it then yes you can more or less geuss how much chemical to put in and how often as you get a feel for it. (we used to sell them)

We thought about getting one a few years ago when we were renovating an old cottage - but settled for a plug in bath spa machine from morrisons for £30. For added authenticity we open all the bathroom windows so neighbours can see - we fill with water just below comfortably tepid and chuck in a hand full of leaves, twigs and a cup of grit!

Seriously though - a few years ago I went on a skiing travel holiday in the states. - one of the motels we stayed in had a giant open air / covered hot tub in the grounds. - fantastic - minus 20 out of water with the clear skies above, sitting soaking away aching muscles with a big plastic tumbler of gin.
                              Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!
