          hi mate -
I dont think Avast should cause too many probs unless its doing a full scan upon startup which might slow you down. Try Firefox or Opera and see if they run better to see if its a browser issue.

How many MB's / GB's of Ram does it have?

Ive heard you need at least a gig to run vista properly.

That might be total Schite, but its a possibility!

Get rid of Vista, it's a pile of manure.

You'll get a proper copy of XP Pro from your local PC bucket shop for £70

heck this out Woodzie, you can use firefox with Vista but it seems there are some minor issues........................

There are no articles about Opera with Vista, so i can only assume it's ok.

As Andy mentioned, you'd be best off just ditching Vista completely, and using something, (and I'm trying to say this with a straight face), better such as XP.

XP will run fine on a dual core system. I think the processor controls things, rather than the OS as in the dual processor scenario. (I may be completely wrong on that, however). I installed XP on Connors dual core machine, and it runs fine.
