If you want to know how tapered bearings should be installed and adjusted then go to the Timken website. Timken invented the tapered bearing as far as I know, so they should know. A torque wrench is not needed or even recommended. The only torque needed is for the initial seating of the bearing. Tapered bearings should be adjusted to allow for expansion. Torqueing a tapered bearing will remove this and shorten its life dramatically.
I'm listening, but i'm confused i got lost at HUB box spanner as for 54mm, my wheelnuts are 19mm i think can you undo 2 at a time with a 54mm HUB box spanner, and wouldn't a 57mm be better then you could do 3 at a time
If it has a nut on it surley it is subject to some sort of torque.
There's two nuts. The one against bearing is simply for location and setting clearance/end float. The second locks the first in position with help from the tabbed washer. You could torque this one I suppose but as long as it's tight it will be ok.
The torque setting should give you the correct preload. Its not much, 18ft/lb over all the touching surfaces of two big taper bearings gives you plenty of room for it to expand.
Toyota give detailed instruction on how to install the bearing via torque settings and then checking drag with a spring balance so that there is no comeback if most monkeys at the dealers fit them.
Thats the whole point of checking drag, more than 6kg of pull on a wheel lug means it'll be to tight when its hot, less than 3kg and it'll be to loose and feel odd when driving.
If you've done lots of wheel bearings, you'll know what works by experiance.
