UHM... I can go into the whole explanation why they can't do that because of their anatomy, but i guess that will send you off to sleep....

So the short answer is... get their owners to do it??

If, like mine the other day, the light is on around the outside, but there is no power, take the socket out, and push the contacts in at the bottom that would connect to the plug you push in (for sat nav etc.) then try it.....worked for me.

There is also a fuse wire around the bottom end of the socket, and if you push in and hold the lighter too much, you can burn this out - I've fixed one by just getting another piece of wire and soldering it onto the end.....

        Worth a look at least!
        My clock is working...

There is no light around the socket??

Muddy's, mine and Breakdown's are 2nd gen trucks, you got the hairdresser special, so things may well be different.

Hopefully a 3rd gen owner will give us their two penny worth shortly.

Then I think your fuse is fine because as said if you remove the fuse (acc or Cig) then the clock goes off...

As said by mudsurfer try checking the wiring to the cig lighter just check all bit are connected
