SVO. is Straight Veg Oil, as in straight out of the bottle.

That's just got me thinking. What's the situation with regards to using BioDiesel and SVO/WVO? Can you just treat the BioDiesel as if it was plain old Diesel and use the same ratios of SVO/WVO, or should you lower the quantity of SVO/WVO when using BioDiesel?

glad you asked that - been considering it myself, 50% local bio for 86p then rest with svo = cheapo motoring

Well, not that cheap, still more expensive than it was only 2 months ago. In September time I was getting my Diesel for around 87p/ltr and SVO for 53p/ltr. But anything to stave off the silly prices at the moment.

True Biodiesel can be mixed with Veg oil, just like fossil diesel. I'd change the proportions a little (60/40 bio:veg).
From what I've heard, well filtered WVO is slightly less viscous than SVO (that's a good thing).

Watch out for people selling "Biofuel" which is just treated Veg Oil. Always ask if the Bio is real "transestherfied" Biodiesel. If not, don't mix with it, cause it's just SVO with some thinners in.

Same thing at local Lidl. 2 months ago 56p a litre, then 68p, now 78p! Allegedly it's because of the wet summer we had (bollox)!

I went and paid £15.80 for 20 lts of rapeseed at the oriental wholesaler in portsmuth yesterday, all they had!! b@r$tards, plus i got about 15lts of used stuff from the indian, just need to filter the bits of popadum out of it

Follow up:
Went to Plymouth Biofuels, got 40 litres in nice big containers (with handles no less )

Worked out at 55p/litre, for WVO that's been filtered settled & siphoned for you... not bad.

The guy who runs the place is a bit new-agey for my tastes, but nice enough.
