  • Privacy glass question

    Hi guys!
I'm looking at a 3L 2nd gen Hilux to possibly buy, but it hasn't got the privacy glass at the back (it's a SSRX), just clear. Point is I do need the boot contents out of view. How can this be fixed (i.e buying some film or other means), is it easy to do and how much? Thanks again.

You can buy rolls of window film from boy racer shops or ebay for about £12, but you'll probably need two rolls as you'll need to black out the side windows too.

Unless you have the patients of a saint (or the tenacity of sledge ) I would recommend a tint specialist, applying it is a pain, trimming it is hell

Oh great! Now I know what to buy and that probably I won't able to do it myself! How much is such a 'tinting specialist'.
Also am I correct in thinking then that all Surfs (2nnd gen, at least) that do have privacy glass must have been tinted afterwards?

Correct. Most of them have been tinted in Japan by the previous/original owners.

Don't know what a profesional will charge for the Surf, but I know it's around £200 for a complete car such as a four door BMW.
