Can anyone recommend insurance comapnies that actually know what a Hilux Surf is?

I am already covered with Adrian Flux, but the premiums seem too steep for my liking. They quote £425 with £500 excess and 8000miles usage!!

Everyone else i try just get confused because they can't find surfs on the system...so what the heck does everyone else on here do for insurance?

Tesco - won't touch the car because it has a bullbar!!

        Lifesure - wanted £645

I always thought it was supposed to get cheaper as you and your car got older.

Tesco never asked me if I had a bullbar!!!!

I applied on-line though, didn't actually converse with anyone.

Dunno if you tried them yet, but I'm currently with Admiral - who were way cheaper than anyone else.

Mine's a 4Runner though, so UK spec and they had no problem finding it, but if they do know what a Surf is, their risk calculator seems kind to 4x4ers in their early 30s...

but i bet they did ask if it was modified....which a bullbar most definitely is. And how did you do it online? the tesco website does not recognise the Surf...or rather it recognises a couple of models but neither of which is anywhere close to surf i drive!

i think i'm seeing a pattern here - run a 1st or 2nd gen pay peanuts, run a 3rd gen and get shafted!
