Aye. I noticed the handbrake arms that go through the back plate have a habit of seizing esp after wading through mud and water. Stops the auto adjusters from working properly. From what Tony said ages ago, its quite common. My 3rd does it as well but not as bad.

im pretty pleased with it really coz it could of failed on a lot more.so all in all a pretty good result.im surprised it didnt fail on the amount of tyre tread sticking out of the arches.it must be at least 2".

I had to do the same for my pickup for the MOT, I knew because the handbreak did not work anymore and I found the adjusters seized due to mud.

I have a very nice MOT place that I have used for years and they are great at being very fair

I use Pottery Service Station (Kampers and Car) on Ringwood Rd, It's run / owned by Andy Saunders the guy who builds odd cars, so he is used to non standard things in for a MOT

I don't know him well or anything, we just chat once a year but, he is a genuine nice guy (and the other guy who work there) who never try to make money out of you, in fact if your car fails they will show you why and also recommed where you can get the parts from for a cheap as possable.

I guess he would like your Surf (s)

The Jag in the first thread is pretty cool! Very similar to the Broadspeed XJs (the ones with LEYLAND down the side!!) But the spare wheel mounted in the boot lid is superb!

You're right, I'd be pleased with that. Its not like its gonna cost anything to put them right and its a simple & common issue with rear drums (from my experience anyway (my Pug 205, Citroen ZX, that 1st gen, my 3rd gen (wait, that's every single car I've owned!) have all had issues with $$$$py drum performance). At least the body work has all been put right now, cos it would have almost definitely failed on the rear arches otherwise.

PS when the rear brakes are set up right (and with 31's), the brakes are pretty good for a truck of that age! Very easy to lock the fronts up when they're not tho

the 1st gen went back in for its mot today and failed again on rear brakes.handbrake was perfect this time but no effort on service brake.so got the shirlster to bring truck to work where i tied up the load sensing valve.took it back in for mot and failed again.so im going to the mot station tommorrow morning armed with spanners and the very kind mot man said he will let me play on the rolling brake road until we get a result.every thing seems to be working ok so it can only be the lsv.hopefully it will pass in the morning other wise were stuffed for the rtts.we will have to come down in the sharran.
