If anyone from eastbourne is going to the plain, then clearly they dont mind getting filthy, I wonder would they have room for a motorcycle rolling chassis....?

i don't mind being not as quick as most, never really in much hurry at the best of times, she'll still do a good 80mph without much sweat, she's sh!t on steep hills though, but thats my only gripe, not really a problem when you live on the flatlands of essex, but when i go to yorkshire and boil me head, thats when it's a problem

The Lexis V8 (1uz-fe) is a cracking engine! Very stong (6 bolt mains), light weight and relaible, currently fairly cheap too, altohugh I have a feeling as more people "discover it" it will rocket up in price. There is a plethora of bolt on superchargers too...

A friend of mine is currently building a Bowler Tom cat based around one, running the standard lexus auto with a transfer box fabbed onto the back, I am also currently helping a good friend of mine fit one to his '85 Celica Supra, mated to a 5 speed manual which should be fun

The wiring should not be that bad.. I have had a brief look at it and plotted out all the wires I need on the wiring diagram, in manual mode at least there are about ten wires that need connecting, -which I should be doing tomorrow so finger crossed!

The biggest issue we have had so far was engine bay width and exhaust headers, but I doubt that will be a problem in a surf! They even made one out the factory with a full time 4wd transmision that was fitted to some Aristos (mad sump with the diff INSIDE it)

One thing that hit me last night like a ton of bricks! Is....

What happens to the high and Low ratio? Its part of the surfs trans isnt it?
                            Will the Hi/Lo be removed?

When fitting the auto box from the lexus i guess some trim inside needs to be 'modded' to fit the new gear selector etc?

the lexus swap is something i really really wanna get sorted on my surf!

That's what the transfer box sorts out!

It's only about an inch further forwards than the Surfs gear lever apparently.

Keep a lookout on Ebay or your local rag, there's always a few for sale in your neck od the woods.[/

There are also different versions of the engine... I prefer the revision 1, it wasn't as revvy, but had chunkier rods, -it takes foreced induction better, and there is more info floating about the net on wiring, not to mention they are easier to get!

The aussies are big into them and fit them to pretty much everything... there is some good info on them on the toymods forum (www.toymods.net), I'll bet they sell off the shelf conversion kits too for any mounts etc...

They are not nice to change a starter motor on though
