ugly surf

there is a vehicle that looks like the surf in outline...if remember correctly its one of the old style nissan terrano/pathfinder family.(Nissan Terrano/Pathfinder D21)

terrano r-50 or wd21 also from japan

3rd gens all have fuel caps on the left and exhausts on the right...but they're not ugly, so that rules them out

maybe it was a 3rd gen with all the plastic removed, hence why i didn't recognise it!?!?!?

it was on a 'P' plate, so, is that the right year for 3rd gens?

just looked at some 3rd gens and they have the same naff body lines this other thing had.

but, this surf didn't have a rear mounted spare...is that normal/available for a 3rd gen?

if so - it's deffo a 3rd gen without all that plastic...so now i can see why toyota had to add all the plastic bits, because trust me, without it the thing is hideous!

this has the same tailgate, same lines (which run from rear light cluster to rear door then front door to wing) and the age of the vehicle matches.

now this thing i saw had all the trimmings removed and it turned it from a...gulp...good looking motor like this one, into a horrid hybrid rav4 looking piece of cr@p.

also the wheels were the old naff little steels, which looked like 15" rims and aren't 3rd gens meant to be on 16" rims? anyway this done nothing but make the thing look even worse.

so, whoever owns it, please, please, please put the...erm...put the...erm....yes i am going to say it....put the bl00dy plastic trim back on it will you, and get it the right size wheels and stop trying to pretend you aint a feckin' hairdresser!!!

mystery solved...sorry all...but having never paid an interest in 3rd gens, i couldn't identify it...shame on me i suppose!

Our Hilux family now consists of:-

a 1st Gen Surf (lid just off for the summer)

b 2nd Gen Surf (getting skeletor prepped for the Run to the Hills)

c 2nd Gen Pick up with solid front axle.

When I have the money I will buy (and severely mod) a 3rd Gen.

If I spent £1000 modding each of the three Gens - I know which would be the most capable.
