Might be a bit of daft question - but...
I thought the bands where all about emmisions - so with the new mot system being linked to a central data base - and my emmsions being so low (veg) surely my surf should attract a much lower duty of road tax????
Or.. as usual..am I thinking on an empty head?
          Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

Road tax for gas guzzling cars could double in Wednesday's budget - have your say here
Chancellor Gordon Brown delivers his eleventh - and almost certainly final - financial package on Wednesday and the hike on gas guzzlers is expected to be among a raft of green measures.

Annual duty on the 225,000 least fuel efficient vehicles purchased brand new since last April, including most 4x4s and sports cars, is set to rise from £210 to more than £400 over the next two years, according to the Times and Sun.

NOTE this is on newer Vehicles since last April

The car tax bands only apply to cars registered after 2001.

The tax on our surfs will go up by £5
