Go on Vince. Have a go at repairing it. You know you want to.

Tube went paff! Doesn't power up, no sound, nuffink.

I've had a fiddle and checked the internal fuse and looked for dry solder joints, but I'm thinking it is about 12 years old now and due for replacement anyway.

Yeah, but newer don't always mean better. You can't beat a CRT for picture quality.

Goldstar's have generally been fairly reliable in the past. Obviously not these days. Toshiba, Sony or Samsung are your safest bets as a rule.

Have you put the fuse back in Vince?

I would'nt go poking about as the CAPACITORS hold a very high charge which can KILL YOU. So be careful.

Yup. It's the pain they cause which is the real sod though.

Girl. Three phase throws you across a room. Single phase just gives you a nasty belt.

Which does actually beg the question, what did you do to get the shock?
