Looks good. Nipped round to the welders today to ask whether he'd be able to sort me one out. (I'm naff at welding). With the towbar already being there, he suggested welding two arms to the ends of the towbar itself and fixing it that way, so that they extend up from the towbar. Gonna' have it done in box section the same, but without the side pieces, just a straight beam along the back.

I was thinking about the side pieces the other day and figured that if anybody is going to smack the Surf from that angle, the bumper side arms wouldn't make much difference anyhow.

I made up separate brackets so i could keep the new bumper nice and high.

Won't that towball be too high for most stuff though? Had thought of having mine put higher, but then figured it would probably be too high for trailers and such.

If you're doing the sort of wheelin' that warrents a tube bumper, you don't want a towbar hanging down there like a big anchor.

Proper height towball and offroading = stuck.

Tut. You honestly think I'm gonna get her mucky? Looking butch and being used offroad are two vastly different things.

                Sigh, there's no hope.......

All that effort to build a offroader out off a 4x4, and you end another Bushwacker......

I see a rear bumper, its a bit like a tow equippe tow bar, (you know the one with a heavy tube running under the standard rear bumper) but its got extra bits running around the sides, and when you need to tow something, it drops down to the right height. Dunno how exactly it drops down, I'll have to have a look underneath there one of these days...

Its always a possibility that I dreamt it....
                    it's in me shed, mate.
