These people are the ones who do most of the gas caravan heaters and water heaters. Depends how old it is whether they still keep parts for them.

Right spent the day tracing power here and there
                    established the blower side works
                    left switch either
                    half
                    full fan

right switch apparently looks to offer a choice of either
                    hot
                    or cold air

                    thermostat though does nothing
the writing beneath warns to remove outside flue cover (done that)

Gas in bottle is very slighlty running low though

I wonder if the fact the gas powered fridge on the van not working either is a symptom of low gas supply?

still at least I found where the sink waste goes.....

It's possible that the gas is out, or there maybe a secondary isolator/gas tap somewhere inside the van.
Try tracing the pipe from the bottle to the fridge and heater, to see if tere is anoter tap.

                      Keep us posted.

If the fridge and heater were fitted from new then both should have separate gas isolation valves fitted. If they are after-market fitments then they still should have although some DIY'ers might not fit them. You need to find these to make sure they are on to test the appliances on gas, also make sure you have a full or new gas bottle.

Another thing is that if you were trying to test these appliances when it was very cold then if you have blue butane cylinders it may have been that it was too cold for the LPG to change to gas. Try again this weekend whilst it is warm.

                          Isolation

your both quite correct although you probably don't require confirmation...

There is indeed a gang of Three
                          taps
                          Heater/hob/fridge
all at hand when you open gas compartment to turn on bottle in first place.

I've lit the hob for what its worth by turning on bottle/relevant isolation tap, and so I know the other Two operate when turned same way.

I'm guessing here that a flame at hob, wouldn't neccesarily mean the other appliances would work fine, I don't know why I think this perhaps I'm wrong but.

with battery power present and gas turned on everywhere the fridge is clicking
(in the same way a CH boiler does when its being ignited)

and I'm thinking perhaps its a pressure issue what with bottle being low,
                          this was Today BTW

Tomorrow I'm going to borrow a mates hopefully fuller'bttle for a few minutes and see if that makes a difference.

                          On the heater BTW,

I inspected its electronic control board which is wired nearby,

it contains not one moving part,
but equally it looked (to me)
                          un burnt out and serviceable

Did you speak to Gary ?

His company specialises in repairing old/obsolete gas heaters and he knows more about the subject than anybody else I know. And on top of that he's a really nice guy ! If he can't help then he'll know somebody that can

Life is too important to take seriously !

                              No,
But if I have no joy with
Sundays experiment I'll know its likely a failure of the heater in some way and ring him Tuesday thanks.

I'm hoping this side of the vehicle, has escaped the attentions of its previous owners,

as it seems to have not only been a firing range for all their drill bits, it looks like a swiss cheese on closer inspection inside.

But they also never appeared to have used anything but wood screws to hold everything together.

I casually looked in the engine bay recently,
to find the battery secured only by its leads,
and one of those had been practically sawn through by the cooling blade on the alternator!

Meant to reply earlier, but lap top crashed, so I'll continue.

The fridge and the heater will have pilot lights, both of whic will have minute holes in for the gas to go through, we call these pilot injectors.

They can get blocked by a spec of dust, but do not be tempted to clean them with a pin as this is far too large, and will damage tem beyond repair.

They can be cleaned with a blast of compressed air ( like that in a tin for cleaning camera's)
Tis should really be done by a qualified person as it may involve stripping and removing of gas carrying componenets.

It may be that if the appliances have not been used for a fair while, the injectors have become blocked, this is cheap and eas to fix(usually) and will only cost 1-2 hours labour.

Both will probably have some sort of flame dailure device (FFD) like a thermocouple which may or may not need replacing.

All this work can be carried out under the catagory of an annual service, so that maybe all they need.
