  • Hardest thing I've had to do

Our littl'un (3yrs , girl) went in today to have tonsils and adanoids out, but she got in to such a state in the hospital, they could'nt give the anaesthetic, so we were told she had to have gas. I had to physically hold her with force, her head cradled in my hand, whilst they held the mask over her face, while she's crying out "please daddy take me home".

I have never been so cut up in my life, and very, very emotional when I left her.
Its cruel to be kind, but she's had tonsilitis 10 times in the last year and she was made a priority case, as she felt badly ill everytime she got it.

Its all over now, and she's tucked in to crisps, chips, and sandwiches only 7-8 hours after the op........................

..................but, boy, what an emotional and very stressful day,

must be something to do with dads and their daughters.

Oh no ...guess I have this to come ( my son , Jack , 8 months )

He has only had a few jabs so far , and smiled at the nurse as she put the needle in , then looked at me , as if to say B*st*rd .

      Oh joy !

Looks like you came out of the op worst than your littlen.
Speedy recovery to both of you.

        All the best

          Fieldsy.

She will definately thank you that she had it done so young. Had my Tonsils out at the age of 37, the recovery was appaling - mind you the ice cream was nice.

I wish her a speedy recovery, if she's on the crisps already then she's well on her way.

          Cheers

They hate you for it at the time and a while after but they get over it. Then they grow up and have to do something similiar to their kids and you can say to them your wicked/horrible doing that.

My heart goes out to you, I had a similar thing when my girl was 8. they gave her an injection and said they were putting her to sleep..

That was fine until she realised that 2 weeks before that, our dog had been "put to sleep" with an injection. She pleaded not to do it,, and cried no as she was dropping off ..
Best feeling is whan they wake up and know its over
