  • Just my luck

    Just been out to start the truck . Started ok then all the dash warning lights came on and the key alarm , That right the alternators packed up. Now to source a replacement one.........

      Are the belts loose or come off?
      Electrical connections, connected on the alternator?
      Wash the mud off your truck and give it a polish, it may run OK.

          Joking aside, hose the mud out of the alternator and clean the brushes, you might be OK.

            Gave it a good clean but NFG
            Got a new one down to £159 but going with a local motor factors £165 trade

            Anyone know somewhere down south i could get the old one reconditioned as a spare?

                    Ok info needed now chaps ...Does the oil return on the vacuum pump screw in as it is different on the new one and causes problems with the engine mount

                              Its just a press fit, a good wiggle and gentle levering gets it out, I'd put it back with a little loctite to make sure it seals.

                              If you worried about damaging the fitting ( its not that strong and bends easily, trust me I know! ), just swap your whole old vacuum pump on to the new alt.
