          I would perhaps enquire;

          if they have any news, as you have recieved interest/offer from another company who require prompt reply.
          Although you would prefer to work for them due to their proffesionalisn etc,you will be accepting their offer by the end of the week if you have no oter tangible offers.

          Kind regards etc etc.

          something along those lines.
          Rob

          Still working for the man!

              Terrible. 'I am writing to see'. Well, obviously. Don't do that. Is the English language really in such a sorry state these days? Also, they informed you that you would be notified. To 'hear' infers verbal communication.

                So what is the best way to enquire without sounding cheeky/pushy
                I'm going to sleep on this for now & see who has given the best Accountable reasons etc.
                LETTER WRITING is so yesterday to some folk.

                  You cannot sound pushy provided you use deference at the same time as enquiring. They indicated you would be notified of something last Friday, did they not? That is why I suggested the line I did. It is not being pushy, but it is making it visible that you would like a response. Also, I would refrain from using the 'other job' tactic. Mentioning that a prompt reply would be appreciated so that you may pursue other avenues would be better. Trying to push them into a response with a method they will have seen used multiple times is a poor, and possibly detrimental, choice.

                  Try to be deferent and forceful at the same time. If you can achieve a balance between the two, your response cannot be taken either one way or the other.

                    The medium of conveyance is of no import. Verbal, written or otherwise, the same method is used for all.

                            I would only relocate ABROAD somewhere nice & Sunny. We are tied with our Mortgage & it would cost us 8K to get out of it but thanks for your concern.
