how about a carbon look dash kit from roughtrax,a chipped ecu.and an induction kit,then get rid of all those hot gases through a nice s/s exhaust system.

If I keep up on the Stella it's going to take a sh!t load more than an exhaust system to get rid of the hot gases, but you are speaking the sort of sense I was thinking. Dunno about the ECU though, where does one procure such a thing?

Seriously, I have a Surf out of choice. I could have pretty much anything else and only set a grand because I don't want to throw too much money at something that's only got a few years life left in it.

I promised my truck I'd lavish money on him if he got me to the Alps and back without incident, which he did. This now leaves me in the difficult position of having to spend some money. I thought about an LPG conversion but my calculations are that will take at least 5 years to pay itself off, which seems like a long time to wait.

So, we can all have some fun here, what would you do?

- I like the wheels just how they are
- I don't want any bars or lights
- I don't offroad so big lifts and mud tyres seem a bit pointless
- It already drinks fuel at a fair old rate
- I will get the tcut off the paintwork one day

It needs a service and one or two little bits sorted but I reckon I could manage a grand or so of silliness to keep myself entertained.

I was thinking:

- New road tyres (old Jap A/Ts are a bit skiddy and noisy)
- Cold air induction
- Custom exhaust
- 'Something' in the interior.

or something. I'm not too keen on having massive work done on the engine or putting complicated stuff in there that's just going to screw up. A little more performance would be nice, along with better handling and more comfort.

Any views?

There is no decision to be made here. Get it to one of the V8 nutters on here for a transplant for two extra cylinders and a couple of extra litres. Mmmmm...

Although I guess at 16 years old and 140,000km the engine (which is apparently the worst Toyota have ever made - I saw someone on Yotatech talking about maybe transplanting in a 2LTE.....) may be on its way out fairly soon.

I don't just dream this stuff up ya know.

Given that I can barely hold a spanner, I would need someone to do the work for me. I do wonder whether a certain Mr N has any views on the cost of doing the swap?
