I promised my truck I'd lavish money on him if he got me to the Alps and back without incident, which he did. This now leaves me in the difficult position of having to spend some money. I thought about an LPG conversion but my calculations are that will take at least 5 years to pay itself off, which seems like a long time to wait.

So, we can all have some fun here, what would you do?

    - I like the wheels just how they are
    - I don't want any bars or lights
    - I don't offroad so big lifts and mud tyres seem a bit pointless
    - It already drinks fuel at a fair old rate
    - I will get the tcut off the paintwork one day

It needs a service and one or two little bits sorted but I reckon I could manage a grand or so of silliness to keep myself entertained.

    I was thinking:

    - New road tyres (old Jap A/Ts are a bit skiddy and noisy)
    - Cold air induction
    - Custom exhaust
    - 'Something' in the interior.

or something. I'm not too keen on having massive work done on the engine or putting complicated stuff in there that's just going to screw up. A little more performance would be nice, along with better handling and more comfort.

    Any views?

Cold air induction, custom stainless pipes, profiled cams, should give you an extra 10 to 20% power if not more, (not sure really though as i've never done anything on v6s)

    Price breakdown estimates

    Induction £70-150
    Exhaust £300-400
Cams £400-600 and a few days with the truck off the road,

Results - awesome sound, better performance, economy - depends how you drive it.

a grand or so of sillyness eh, you mentioned fuel economy a few times, why dont you trade in the old petrol and put a grand or so of sillyness towards a 3.0 diesel

Because I bought the V6 in favour of a 3.0TD for a bit of extra poke, a much better noise, much better throttle response and to be a difficult, different pain in the arse.

Economy isn't a big deal because I don't do many miles but I don't want it to get any (much) worse.

a nice narrow, scratchy, tree-lined lane would work much better, and be cheaper.
