My mates garage spend alot of time and get paid alot of money to put right Nationwide vehicles that they have done wrong . I have seen some of the 'repairs' done by them . Wrong bolts in wrong holes , bolts missing , bits missing etc. They are known to be bad where ever you go in the country . They employ knuclke dragging chimps as mechanics and give the motor trade a bad name .

If I were you I'd ring Nationwide and the AA, tell them you are unhappy with the way you've been treated and you are now going to the trading standards people. They'll probably say 'whatever' and assume you wont do it.
Get all your paperwork together so you have traceability, get something on paper from Roughtrax verifying that the parts were what they say they were (no doubt on that score - Roughtrax wont screw you) and pester the hell out of them.
Get the names of the people you've spoken to, and inform them you are speaking to their head office about them. Speak to managers, head office preferably, not the customer service monkeys. Basically, be a proper pain in the ar$e.
A friend of mine had a lot of trouble with a brand new Scooby a year ago and the dealer played all the tricks in the book. He ended up taking it to an independent specialist and getting a report on it, then going to Subaru UK with his complaint. He got everything sorted out, and the dealership has now gone.
I hate these scrotes who think they can just walk all over the consumer. The law's on your side, but it will need some legwork on your part to get what you want.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

He is right regarding the thrust bearing you should have supplied one. For obvious reasons garages dont like customers who supply parts and most will take great pleasure when it goes tits up.
Good luck with your claim but you supplied the parts MINUS the ten bob bearing.

I had an angry customer last year , told me he had a puncture three days after picking his car up and went to Nationwide .
they told him his brakes were shot and did not want him to drive out as he and his wife could be killed.
he took the chance and came back to us to have a pop at the chimp that did his car ( me ).
I had him drive the car onto the ramp and i removed a wheel so he could show me the worn out brakes , knowing they would be ok as i had only done the thing a few day prior .
It had about 1/4 wear so did not need doing for some time yet .
i fitted new pads ( boss told me to ) and i gave him the old ones to take back and chuck at Nationwide , dont know if he ever did.
but that is A T S and Nationwide that has done this that i know of .

Used a Nationwide place for the MOT's on my Surf and the wife's Polo for a couple of years because they were handy. Was never that happy with the service but last year they replaced the N/S track rod inner & outer plus the joining tube on the Surf (all supplied by me). November this year I checked under the car and the "new" outer gaiter had split completely around the circumference.
Now it could have been $$$$ Milner's parts but it also could have been poor fitting. The wife's car also cost money last January for it's MOT and again we weren't impressed with the service. This year we used a long established garage next door to the Toyota dealership. It's in a grotty looking shed but the guys are as straight as they come, so much so that the local plod seem to use them. Both cars flew through without any problems but I'm sure if they had gone back to Nationwide that they would have "found" something just to bump up their take.
Never again will I us Nationwide. In my opinion they are a bunch of $$$$ers and not fit to service a pushbike. Best of luck with your claim and hope you take them for the whole cost.Mike G

One driver I know took her car into a main street "garage" for 1 tyre and came out with the tyre, new exhaust, new front brake pads & disc's, new rear shocks and front struts complete with a bill for almost £900!
She returned to the same "garage" two weeks later for a MOT.....FAILED due to no fekin floor = s$$$$!!
Never EVER use a main street garage, these guys are never time served, have massive targets to meet and fat bonus's to gain.
I employ a time served BMW techi, I charge £30ph yet most local BMW muppets insist on gettin humped by the "real" dealer paying 4x my hourly rate 'cos his workshop has a fekin carpet???!!!!!

AA man said that if it was the thrust/release bearing it would make a noise under pressure e.g. when the clutch pedal is pushed down.

A bad thrust bearing goes quiet when the clutch is pressed 'cos the pressure takes up the exess play.
Mind you bad thrust bearings dont usualy squeel or whine they hiss, rumble or rattle or all three with your foot OFF the pedal so I aint convinced it is your bearing ?
