  • Call me petulant, but....

Well, finally got truly pee'd off at the news of getting taxed for everything
regarding carbon emissions that's plastered over the news again today, so
not being childlike and being able to rise above such things, got the t1t lip
on and submitted a shortish message on both the GMTV and BBC sites about
tax on vegoil and biodiesel, asking if they can fetch THAT subject up.

Somehow, can't see it happening personally.

BTW Vince, you don't need to post when you get up just to call me petulant.

The thing is, we already get taxed heavily on fuel in the UK.
We all have a choice of what we drive, therefore if we have a vehicle that uses more fuel we pay more tax ! Fact
    Whats the problem ?

Of course, but the current topic they're harping on about is not the amount
of fuel consumption = amount of tax equation. They're harping on about how
they are going to more heavily tax just about everything to convince people,
(i.e: shaft them and take more tax), to reduce their amount of carbon
emissions. If they are going to have the holier than thou stance about their
intention of reducing emissions, then they can't keep their cake and eat it.
One cannot preach ones intent to reduce emissions, whilst still making viable
means to do so more or equally expensive to polluting factors. They are once
again paying lip service to a common notion, and merely using it as an excuse
to further bend everyone over and give them another good seeing to. Hell,
we ought to start nicknaming politicians King Dick for the size of the length
      they keep slipping us.

Hi Matt, you're petu..........oh, I see, you knew that already.

I know what you mean though re; carbon emmisions b****cks, we could all run out Surfs on veg. oil, and there are over (8 thousand of us on here alone) and create zero emmisions, solve the problem waste oil disposal, and keep farmers all over the world in business by giving them something to grow and sell. The Government get their revenue from the sale of the rape seed, the processing factories get thier income from the public from the purchase of their oil, the Government take thier 'cut' too, 'joe public' can afford to run their vehicle to get to work, instead of being unemployed 'cos they can't afford to get to work 'cos of the cost of fossil fuel = more income for the Gov. through road tax and saving money by not giving it out as benefit, public transport can be converted to run on veg oil so fares can be reduced, meaning even more people can get to thier jobs 'cos travel costs are so much cheaper, Britain's economic growth picks up, the Gov. rake in even more revenue, everyones a winner!

It couldn't be simpler, could it?

                  My thoughts exactly mate.

If the government actually cared about reducing emissions, rather than claiming to whilst trying to price people out of driving, (in a country with a laughable public transport infrastructure in many places) then experimental fuel users would be rewarded and not forced to jump through hoops.

If all the buses in this country ran on veg oil then the reduced overheads the companies faced might allow them to actually provide decent services whilst at the same time massively reducing emissions.

It's frightening that people in such positions of power seem to have only one answer to any carbon emissions issues and that is: increase tax.

Totally aggree Matt, The government as usual is useing this issue to pull in more money, god forbid they should use some of the money they already rob from us to research and increase the production of bio fuels and alternative fuels for industry, Christ knows how much of our money they waste abroad in subsidies and two war fronts (iraq and afganistan) we're paying farmers to grow f**kall when they could be produceing fuel crops, Of course the oil producer's lobby is a very powerfull one, they dont want alternative fuels (unless of course they controll it) they'd $hit a brick if everyone suddenly scr@pped their fossel fuel car and bought an electric one,
Government as usual makes a big noise and does f**k all, i get more and more hacked off with this country by the day, Sod it, i'm goin to bed

I have a question about these electric cars.
Where do they get their electricity?
Is it by burning fossil fuel to run a generator?

I.m not racist, I dont care if the next bloke's black brown white or green, if he's ok with me then im ok with him, what i do object to is the vast numbers comeing in, mostly illeagally and the lack of action by this and previous government's to curb it, Years ago Enock Powell (remember him) warned the street's would run red with blood if something was'nt done about emigration, He was totally ridiculed by the then government and an endless procession of "do gooders" and branded a nutcase unworthy of government office, Well events proved him right, and it's only getting worse, It seems anyone who stands up and states the bl00dy obvious is open to being called a left wing bigot, or a trouble maker as in the case of those guys who last protested against the rise in fuel tax, the media seemed to me to be putting a slant in their reporting so as to lable these guys "the lunatic fringe" and then they always find some idiot to say in front of the camera's that a rise in fuel tax is a good thing and will force people to use their cars less,

Can remember that one. Wasn't she the one who said she had changed her
vehicle because she thought certain neighbours disapproved of it? What
really irritates regarding that woman is that she obviously suffers from the
sheep syndrome, and would appear to have a low self esteem, as another
of her comments regarding 4x4's mentioned something vaguely like "being
towered over by these 4x4's", why the hell is a person with such a
nonexistent self worth who is easily swayed by other peoples opinions,
allowed to be in a position where they can potentially influence other
likeminded people over a national geographical area. A person of that calibre
in such a position is more than annoying, they are potentially dangerous.

With regards to the hybrid/electric cars, they have a disgustingly high
production cost to lifespan requirement. Think it's knocking on ten years
or suchlike before they negate their own production pollution output.
