S'posed to have been for the farmers but why do farmers need to work to the clock? If it's light they can work if it's dark they can't.
Laugh!!! I nearly bought my own beer.

it was invented or rather conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784.
It did help farmers of the day ( but not poultry or livestock farmers - whose animals do not adapt for weeks after a change in clock times) but is these days more of a power saving exercise. power consumption is reduced by around 5% by this bianual change.
ME...i get shafted every year...either one hour less in bed on early shift, or one hour longer at work on nights shift...
I bet mr franklin didn't work f*cking shifts....

i never understood it.... in winter, we're on GMT (normal time)... in the summer, it's BST (hour ahead)

the days are really long in summer, so what's the deal?

Benjamin franklin needs a slap, where's he live? thought it were summat to do with farmers, why cant the farmers adapt there working day instead of the rest of the country adapting to them, it's a pain altering all the clocks, i dont bother with the vcr's now, there the right time half the year,
