I got one of those, got it from Ebay last year, same price too!

I found it doesn't work too well at night though, must be 'cos it's colder.

i thought if you put it under the interior light, it would top the battery up nicely for morning!

i just fitted similar thing to my shed,

a mini solar panel tops up the charge on a battery unit and inside light,
too far from house and awkward to run a power cable to it

I assume that you have fitted it inside the shed window as it's not waterproof?

Do you not need a charge controller if it's left connected 24/7?

                Cheers.

                  maplin solar charger

I probably didn't read the instructions (again) but the Maplin solar charger I bought about three months ago is outdoors and seems quite happy in the rain!

Given the low output, it could be regarded as a trickle charge so I wouldn't have thought any form of control necessary.

it came as 2 units, with waterproof solar panel, and battey/light unit to go in shed, i only have the light on briefly - as its a chicken shed/house!
i had multimeter on solar planel today and it was outputting 7 volts, not sure about current
as they came together i am sure there are electronics to prevent overcharge

I just bought one, seeing as I never drive my truck (even when it works). I have two potentially stupid questions:

                            1. It says it won't work if the fag lighter only works with the ignition on. Does the fag lighter work with the ignition off or do I have to hook the bugger up to the battery?

                            2. It says it will blow my face off if I start the car with it connected. Is that just b0llocks to stop me from suing Maplins if it blows my face off?

                            Ta.

If the fag lighter isn't live with the ignition off, it wont work as there's no path to the battery. You could easily wire it to a permanent live though.
