You're right... looks like a horrible job.

                Anyone here done one?

Yes, took both shafts out, replaced one outer CV joint and both outer rubber boots. Done about a year ago, so a little fuzzy now (it's the age!), but what did you want to know.

I did the work at my own pace, as other transport available, so no proper idea of the time taken. If it's just the CV boots your replacing then I'd estimate a good days work if you've not done it before, less if you're real handy with the spanners.

I got my parts from Roughtrax.

Looks like a job for an expert then. I'm 'ok' with a spanner, but that looks a bit involved.

                    Right... any experts out there?!

Yeah did mine a few months back. the near side outer had split - but thought the rest were sure to go soon so I changed all 4. It's not that technical just a bit of a balls ache removing and refitting shafts whick is at best trial and error finding the right angle. did mine in about 3-4 hours with plenty of tea and tabs. Oh did I mention it's a very greasy job!!!.
                      Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

                        Hiho
Its really not as bad as it looks I did my CV's a few weeks ago, yeah ok the
first side I did was a bit of a mystery took me about 3 hours, did'nt help cos I broke of the bolts I was useing to release the hub flange thingy, had to drill and retap it so make sure you use high tensile bolts.tighten them as far as you dare then slacken them off,the collets on the studs should ping out so watch out for them, easy lost .The other side I did in about an hour, and thats changeing the cv aswell. As your only doing the rubber boots should'nt take to long. The one thing I'd recommend is that you take the bolt out of the bottom of the shock absorber and push it out of the way,so much easier. Be prepared to get your hands greasy tho jakey cakes aint wrong there I'd buy yourself a pot of CV grease ,I dont think there's enough in them satchet's ya get.

it's only as hard as you make it,, famous last word ,,,,

I'm planning on getting Tony N to do it, along with a new exhaust centre section and an MOT in one go.

Easier that way, and I keep my manicure clean

if you tap the hub flange with a dead blow hammer the collets will just fall out ,saves breaking bolts off in the hub.
