Hi Vince

I use tiscali via BT too - I have a Netgear Router, and use a Belkin Wireless Access Point - connected to the non-wireless Router to allow me to use wireless anywhere in the house.

If you get hold of a router, you can either get the wireless or wired one, depends on how your house is laid out, and where you want to use the laptop most - you will need to locate it close enough to the phone line (as I'm sure you will already know, sorry). You can also get routers with built in switches - ports along the back to connect stuff to. I have my printer connected to mine and I share it over the network for my other PCs.

seems average, with poor transfer speeds.

personally, I'd go for something like this:

its got a modem inbuilt (so you can do away with the one you have now) and this will also ensure an always-on connection, less likely to line drop-outs and stuff. it's the same price as the one you have looked at but may go up in the last 6hrs of the auction...

(and the wireless cards in my link will work with these routers)

NOTE! The wireless router plugs straight in to your phone line so you dont need the ISP box. Ensure you read the manual as you will have to put your account details into the Router EG. Username / Password

You just ask your laptop to find all available networks (unsecured)
