There was a TV programme last year called "a 4x4 is born" where they made a hybrid rangerover / 90. I seem to recall they made a rollcage for that. They used a (very fancy) hydraulic pipe bender and a welder.

I seem to remember seeing a Safety Devices internal cage for sale once but think SD went bust so I guess they'd be like hens teeth

Frogs Island bought all the ex stock from safety devices... and had a 4runner full internal cage in stock... a while back, and may still have it...

Blue band or red band steam tube is what you want. Red band has a thicker wall but is a tad heavy. It complies with MSA regs so it must be OK. Make sure you buy British made. There is some imported stuff that satisfies the EU regs but is not as good as the British spec in the QC dept. You will need a 12 Tonne pipe bender too. A little tip (confused the hell outta me at first) is that the dia marked on the dies is the i/d and not the o/d. Good luck!
                        It's only a hobby!

If you'd worked for British Steel tubes division you'd appreciate just how funny that is

That's the difference between pipe and tube - tube is specified by it's o.d. whereas pipe uses the nominal bore.

Seeing as you've balled up the concept of keeping it as a sleeper, , why
                            not make an exo-skeleton?
