Last night my daughter asked me what a particular slang word meant that she had heard at school [no not that]. It was a piece of local slang [well Stoke-on-Trent, about 15 miles south of here] that I'd not heard in a while.

So, I though I'd post a few of them here, see if you could guess what they meant:

Bortered
Puthery
Bost'ted
Clempt
Borsant


No cheating by searching the web etc.

Think i only got it cos we share some coloquialisms here in cheshire.

We also have :

Thrutching
yosking
yorping (edited, as spelt this wrong before!)
chunnering
slatting

some of those may not be cheshire-isms though.

my great grandad could talk cheshire, amazing really, cos no-one does nowadays, this county's full of yuppies and footballers now!

Yeah, when I was a kid some of the old timers around here you could barely understand them...now it's rare to here it...


thrutching = bonking/givin it a bit of welly?
yosking = coughing?
chunnering = talking/going on a bit?
