I used to live in the lake district (which was effectively park of denmark for quite a while cos the vikings borrowed it.) lots of good words, and a real accent from the old boys. The one that got me was 'Marra', which everyone used to mean mate. It was used so much it never occured to me it was a local word so I got strange looks when I moved to manchester.

theres a great exhibit in the windemere lakes museum where you can listen to recordings of 'old timers' talking. not a bl88dy word!!!!
