went to halfrauds and came across a nifty can of air con recharge for £40 with cleaner what a bargain!! used it and it works a treat!! the other half too cold now lol

attach to low pressure side with engine running and press nozzle and watch it recharge! peece of cake

is your air con as it was wen imported???

as long as it's post '93 ish... the old type use the old gas... (r12 i think??)

I have asked our refrigeration guys here at work what efect it would have if you mixed gases and they were totally unsure - basically they don't do it, because they don't need too, therefore they don't know. I am researching mixing gases at the moment and so far i have found this:

After retrofit the system is marked so that in future there were used the same refrigerants and oils for servicing. It is necessary to do to avoid mixing of different refrigerants in future. Such blends can have unpredictable thermodynamic characteristics, which will lead to decreasing of cold-productivity and dropping of efficiency of the system operation.

By implication these seem to be saying it is ok, but it will be more hassle in the future (altho if the system is R-12 already you have to get the gas reclaimed ANYWAY) and it might negatively affect the systems performance but noone can say...

Can anyone tell us what refrigerant is in the cannister? It might be some kind of generic one that can be used wth both systems, such as duracool or enviro-safe (ones i have found on the net)

Here is a picture of where the caps are for the valves to the high and low pressure points for the aircon. Hope this helps.
