Toyota Recall For Surfs

i think you will have to get your digit out and give them your vehicle details b4 you can have the work done

There was a recall by AUDI a couple of years back [suspect front bearings] and they sent me a letter saying get it to a dealer ASAP.

It seems a bit strange that Toyota would not automatically notify owners of all affected vehicles now that it appears the green light has been given. I mean not doing so undemines the whole point of a recall.

Not Amused....

Took mine in for it's steering arm to be replaced today. The garage said 'Oh, we've tried to contact you. Your vehicle isn't affected by the recall. Only 4Runners are affected'!!!!!
Even though I'd given them my reference number from Toyota Customer Services, AND I'd had the phone call from Jayne, last week, to say I had the go ahead to get it done!!!

Just waiting for 9 now, to get back on the phone to TCS...

Cheers lads for all your hard work, not been on here for a little while so appriciate this link, will go and check my Surf tonight and contact Jane Allen ASAP with my Chassis number etc. ( mine is a 3litre Diesel Surf 1993) I have a Toyota Gargage only half a mile away. ( but not normaly know for being very helpfull)

Dave if you have problems with them doing the work ring Toyota UK again and ask them to ring your local dealer to tell them to get on with it.I had this trouble last week and early part of this week until Toy.U.K rang them and now i'm having it done on monday

have received my letter confirming recall, after many calls to Toyota HQ.
all I need to do now is arange with nearest Toyota Centre (around the corner) yippee.

Recieved an e-mail today from Toyota Europe telling me my surf was subject to the recall and informed me it was done in 2004.
This took only 3 days. I dont think thats bad.

i would give it a couple of days and then ring Toy.U.K again and see what they have sorted.Like i said they got on the phone while i was put on hold and got it sorted with our local dealer and they were saying the same as yuor dealer was that it dont include the surf only 4runner

Well... Got home from work today, to find a message from Jane, to confirm my truck IS affected by the recall. She said she'd confirmed with 'the service department' that that was the case. Any more problems, to give her a ring.

So... Off I toddle, down to my dealership, ask for it to be booked back in, and they umm and aah, don't want to book it in, cos last they were told, it wasn't eligible (can't blame them , I suppose..).

They're gonna ring Jane on Monday morning, and let me know when it's going to be booked in (again!)..

On the plus side, I did notice on the original jobsheet, that my Surf was due to get 'Wash/Fuel/Gift'. Which is nice.......

will let you know on Monday if i get anything from them.I was told while on the phone last week that if they have been told already from Toyota U.K then they have to do it without all the fuss they are giving you.I had exactly the same thing but they were wanting to get in touch with Toyota Japan

Well finally got mine done today and got them to show the part they took off too as i dont trust them as far as i could throw after all the $$$$ they were giving.They done it while i waited just over a hour and a half and they gave me £10 of desiel.While i was there i asked for a price to change all the oils inc diffs and to do all the greasing aswell and they gave me a price of £121 all in which i thought wasnt too bad but will still try to do it myself.
Hope the rest who were having trouble with the dealers get theirs sorted soon
