I gave up rifle when I was 14 .... obviously had to do some when I was in the Army but did far more target pistol - mainly UIT but a bit of Police/Service/Practical for fun.

Spent loads of time at Bisley up until they banned pistols - didn't have the heart to continue with just black powder and the Mk6 Webley so I took the compensation and bought a caravan. I should have persevered - 5 of the guys I used to shoot with have just been at the Commonwealth Games - only two picked up medals - Micky Gault and Nick Baxter. Crying shame that they have to go to Switzerland to train.

It's just another example of politicians screwing things up - cos we're a lot safer without target pistols aren't we ????

And we all know how close we are to becoming victims of the irrational morons that frequent the Palace of Westminster .....

Life is too important to take seriously !

          Re

          Hi All,

I only shoot handguns and rifles at the moment.

I don't shoot at live targets either, only wooden ones!

          I own a Glock 17 (9mm Luger), Glock 22 (.40 S&W) and a SigSauer P228 (9mm Luger).

The Glock 17 I also carry as a Personal Protection Weapon because of my involvement in the security forces, I don't know for how long this will continue though!

I hold UKPSA and IPSA competition licences and can compete anywhere in the world, apparently!

Strange that the only place in the UK that you can own and shoot a handgun now is in Northern Ireland!

Politicians screwed up again there, lets take the guns off of those who are competent and upright citizens, and are safe to own and use them!

Doesn't make any sense, but then.........when does it ever?

          Later!

          Gary

I've got a 1916 MKI NoIII Lee Enfield (SMLE) that has been deactivated and 10 inert .303 rounds from 1915-1918. I pretend to fire it, does that count?

As no one else had mentioned one I guess you mean mine, I will take a snap of it tomorrow night, not sure if it will help as I mentioned it has been sleeved and at the same time they took about 4" of the barrel. If you have SMLE type then it is different in a fair number of ways and very much older. As well as the standard sights it has long range and volly sights for all that front rank fire, rear rank fire stuff! It also has a magazine cut off so you can load em one at a time till you see the whites of their eyes then you loose of the mag before the old "they dont like it up em starts" Still it might help.
Parts of your engine go up, stop then go back! Mm!

Another surf driving shooter here , -- O/U fixed choke Baikal , paid £75 14 years ago for it , it's been dropped in water, mud , dropped a couple of times from the cart and yet has never let me down. Paid 10 times that for a Barretta , let me down loads. And yes the surf comes with me on the land , it also has never let me down , unlike some of those other 4x4's ive had to help out !!

Finally took the pictures as below.

For info on these supurb bits of kit try getting a copy of the "small arms identification series (SAIS No 7) for the .303 magazine lee-metford and magazine lee-enfield" by Ian Skennerton This covers standard Empire issue rifle from 1888 up to the issue of the SMLE No1 in 1903.

Uk Distributor on my copy is:
                          Selous Books
                          40 Station Street
                          Aldershot
                          Hampshire GU11 1HT

                          ISBN no 0 949749 25 7

It is not much thicker than a magazine and is paperback, mine cost £5 but that was probably 8-10 years ago.

If yours is the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No1 (SMLE) which was from 1903-the end WW2 then the same series of books but SAIS no1, if yours is the later No4 which was introduced in WW2 then it is SAIS no 2 that you want.

Hope that is clear, it doesn't sound it now I've read it back!

                            Another 4runner shooter 'ere,

                            have been using air-rifles - Theoben rapid 17 .177 Mk2 and sirocco 2000 .22
                            for last 2-3 yrs
often shoot from the 4runner cab.
just recently got Fire Arms Certificate - and SGC - so got a CZ ZKM-452 american .22 rimfire - nice short barrel for shooting from the cab, and a 2nd hand 12-bore side-side biakal.

also upgrading the rapid 17 .177 to FAC ~ 22 lbs/ft, for using in places I cant use the rimfire e.g. trees etc

regarding Toyneys chap and problems with farmer - these days you cant just go and shoot anywhere!! You have to have verbal and or written permission to use an air-rifle, or use on own land.
                            and same for firearms.

4runner makes a great shooting platform for driving around the farms, shame my sunroof bust though....
