  • Why Fishing is good

No matter how much whiskey you've had, you can still Fish.
A limp rod is still useful while Fishing.
You don't have to hide your Fishing magazines.
It is perfectly acceptable to pay a professional to Fish with you
    once in a while.
The Ten Commandments don't say anything against Fishing.
If your partner takes pictures or videotapes of you Fishing, you
don't have to worry about them showing up on the Internet if you become famous.
Your Fishing partner doesn't get upset about people you Fished
    with long ago.
It's perfectly respectable to Fish with a total stranger.
When you see a really good Fishing person, you don't have to feel
guilty about imagining the two of you Fishing together.
If your regular Fishing partner isn't available, he/she won't
object if you Fish with someone else.
Nobody will ever tell you that you will go blind if you Fish by
    yourself.
When dealing with a Fishing pro, you never have to wonder if they
    are really an undercover cop.
You don't have to go to a sleazy shop in a seedy neighbourhood to
    buy Fishing stuff.
You can have a Fishing calendar on your wall at the office, tell
fishing jokes, and invite co-workers to Fish with you without getting
    sued for harassment.
    There are no Fishing-transmitted diseases.
If you want to watch Fishing on television, you don't have to subscribe to the Playboy channel.
Nobody expects you to Fish with the same partner for the rest of
    your life.
Nobody expects you to give up Fishing if your partner loses
    interest in it.
You don't have to be a newlywed to plan a vacation primarily to enjoy your favourite activity.
Your Fishing partner will never say, "Not again? We just fished
last week! Is fishing all you ever think about?"
You can be confident that your bait won't be jailbait.
    Fish don't get headaches.
Any day of the month is a good day for fishing.
Your partner won't get upset if someone else handles your tackle.
You can spin a line to catch a cracker, and your partner won't mind.
Saying 'I've got boilies' won't have your partner running to get the
    poultices.
If you get entangled with a bush, it's ok.
You can take a firm hold of a nice butt without getting a slap in the face.

Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

You can say "you have had your maggot sucked" without getting a slap.

Show your tackle to another piscator with no fear of arrest.

Talk about different weights and lines with out a visit from the drug
    squad.
If the puddles to deep..LEARN TO SCUBA.

Drifting back on topic a bit- I find the Surf a great "fishing car". Chuck all the gear in the boot (even two fully made up 13' carp rods (butts hanging out the back window!)). Just drive down to the local lake, pull me rods out the back window and I'm ready to cast- saves a great deal of faffing around tackling up in pitch darkness! You can't do THAT with too many cars!

Great for accessing those places other cars won't/can't reach too. Also ideal boat towing car too.

That what I bought it for, purely for me fishing. Me and two mates all the gear just the job. Looked at plenty of 4x4 before I even saw a surf, then when I did I bought it. Longer in the back so rod bags go straight in, split rear seats some of the other 4x4 had a solid rear so its all up or down totally impractical.
A couple of the places I go are well off the beaten track and those in cars have to park up where the road ends and walk a couple of hundred yards to the river, because although there is a reasonable footpath the track its self is very very bumpy and muddy. Me just drive on by them and park nice and close to the river top motor.

Twas down near Thatcham, last november. Got invited to fish a match on the Kennet, never again can't remember the actual place. torrential rain and wind, caught 2oz and won me section and i packed up after 2 1/2 hours of the match and sat in me motor. Roads were flooded getting there and the track to the river was a wash. One of them days never to be repeated.

Them days are like onions to me, they keep repeating and make me cry.

I've turned into a wimp and become a fair weather fisherman these days, me joints and back moan worse than the missus when it's wet and cold.
