I haven't replaced my torsion bars yet, but I will be adjusting them soon.

Vince. were your wheel arches ok to remove? My front and rear nearside arches have a very, very slight amount of movement in them. So I want to take them off, clean the area up and re-fit. I notice on mine I have double, small ally rivets and screws on the underside. Do they just un-bolt, or do you have to drill the rivets out?

How stiff are your springs. and how much lift do they give compared to standard Surf ones? Are they also "handed" to allow for fuel tank weight etc?

My arches were held on with self tapping screws with wide heads and a couple of M10 headed bolts. where the arches join the wing there's just the rubber seam strip to allow for 'movment' in case of knocks and bumps.
Yours may have rivets 'cos they have been removed before and the plastic clips the self tappers screw into have become 'sloppy'.
When I removed mine, I was amazed that the metal behind was in as new condition and the paint was excellent aswell, so I applied loads of polish before re-fitting.
My springs were not handed, just really stiff! They give 3" of lift.
      The springs come from here......http://www.milneroffroad.com/HDJ80.HTM

3" of lift?? What bits would I need to get for that height increase? IE, new brake lines etc. Do you have to adjust the load sensing valve on the rear axle?

Ahem, Mr Dog Book. Where did you go / what did you do to get them 'less rated'?

          Cheers...

I got them spec'ed at a coil producer who then just made some with a lower rateing. Fitted length is the same and now i have a spare set of HDJ80 coils for sale!!! Also, dont try to buy the milner uprated ones as these are stupildy harder than the normal ones i and vince fitted....

For the load sensing valve, I made up a bracket, but you can use the original bracket, just turn it around/upside down.

For the tee connector on the brake lines that's fixed to the rear axel, I made up a spacer out of 15mm copper tube and a 3inch bolt screwed into the original captive nut.
One other thing, the handbrake cables are clipped to the rear control arms, and they will need um unclipping.
I can't show you a pic, 'cos I'm in Swindon using someone elses P.C. isn't technology wonderfull!

Steve, 2 questions then, how much do you want for them, and how much did it cost for the softer version?

                Cheers....
