I had a 95 Landcruiser VX and what a car she was!!
I drove her to hell and back and she never missed a beat. She was in A1 condition when I got her but probably because I`m a plant operator and drive a 6x6 dump truck at work all day I like to treat my cars like machines and not worry about the odd dent or knock. Remember that Top Gear episode with the Toyota? That`s what I want from a car. The motoring equivelant to the Terminator or the Highlander!
As long as you look after the engine properly thats all that counts. I never understand people that buy 4x4`s but never take them off road or get them dirty or use them to their full potential!!
A 4x4 is a machine and should be used as the tool for what is was designed for. I would never buy a brand new 4x4. I think I would have trouble living with side ramming a tree while spinning out of a ditch after having spent £20-30K.
I`ll leave the pampering stage of a car`s life to someone else, I`ll only want it when it`s reached adolesence and needs to rebel against car washes and dash board shine!!
By the way I`m on the look out for a Surf diesel pref. 3.0 approx £4.5k, my Landcruiser got stolen!!

1968 Escort-Gearstick used to bounce out onto the floor whilst driving, plus the keys use to shake out of the ignition.I had to string them to the indicator or theyed drop through the holes in the floor, the car would still be driving with no gear stick or ignition keys.
