Before the Surf (in reverse order) I had a 1992 Izuzu Trooper 2.8TD which was a complete heap of junk and previous to that I had a 1987 Suzuki SJ 410 which along with my current motor is the best car(s) I have ever owned. Before I got into off-roaders I had a VW Jetta (which was an excellent tough and durable car),a Ford Cortina(which was also a fine motor till some numb nut forgot to take the carpets out whilst doing a welding job on the underside, and it went up in a puff of smoke!) and a Fiat Mirafiori (this was without doubt the worst car I ever owned).

I'm not going to do a list cos I've had nearly 30 cars in the last 24 years. Sold my Skyline to buy a Surf. Have you ever tried getting to a carp lake with all your gear in a Skyline hence the Surf. Must admit I haven't regretted it for a minute (well maybe when a boy racer in a Saxo goes past )

                          Last Car

I had a 3.6 Jaguar XJ40 and always being mindfull of fuel costs had LPG kit fitted for £950 and for the three years i had it ran great and for the price of running a 1600cc car. The two Wolfhounds grew, as they do so had to get bigger car. Along came the Surf. To be honest thought i would miss Jag, but after 2 years no way, even with the little problems i have with it.
Tony!!! pay attention now, when taking foot of off accelarator at about 75-80, thats when it seems to vibrate more. As you know tracking and balancing are perfect. Its a bit like there could be a bubble on nearside, i think front tyre, but there new. Antway see you Thursday, Professor Tony.

Hi Philip, If you only get the vibration when you release the throttle, it could be a propshaft problem.
                            Just a thought.

My rather eclectic collection of vehicles has comprised the following since 1967
Triumph Herald convertible with engine by Coventry Climax - the car I took my driving test in!
Mk1 Cortina with Ian Walker Stage 3 engine
                              Triumph Spitfire Mk 3
Triumph GT6 ( first new car!!)
                              Frogeye Sprite - rebuild project
Bond Equipe GT4S - eventually s****ped to build
Dutton B+ kit car 1147cc engine heavily modded - twin Webers etc went like stink, used for work, play, hillclimbs and sprints.
Cortina Mk IV Estate - used to pull trailer with racing car
Ford Escort Mk 1 - bought for £75, used for 2 years with no probs, sold for £275!!
Another Ford Escort Mk 1 - this one heavily modded for rallying
Golf GTi - one of the first- personal import from Germany
Vauxhall Cavalier - hand me down from father via sister!
Beauford kit car - still got it - resembles a 1930 J Type Duesenburg
Proton Aeroback 1500 Special Edition, full body kit. Dead cheap and incredibly reliable
                              Rover 214 hatchback
                              Rover 216 SE cabriolet
Landrover series 3 Truck cab - horrid motor, pig to drive and leaked oil from every orifice!
BMW 318 SE - still got it
Covin kit car - still building it - a copy of a Porsche 911 turbo - all the looks but none of the expense!
Smart Passion cabriolet - amazing little car. Fuel injected, turbo charged, intercooled, ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control, air con, heated leather seats, electric roof, full sound system, Group 2 insurance, £100 Road tax, 64 mpg, park it anywhere and it does 85+ mph ( only on the continent, obviously!) Still got it
Jaguar XJS convertible - one of the last batch of 20 - stunning car in concours condition - wife used it as her daily driver until she was diagnosed with MS and sold it to buy the Surf - easier for her to get in and out of.
                              Surf SSRX Limited 1997
