mechanical advantages of a 3rd gen over a 2nd gen surf
Who needs 4WD on a solid surface? He meant the important bits.
....... Gizmos.
As an ex Land Rover bloke full time 4x4 is great, and sorely missed. It means you can pull away or accelerate around a corner even in the wet and still go where you point it.
This rear wheel drive on the gen 2 has caught me out a couple of times now when daydreaming and dropping back into Defender mode
Whilst on this subject, what's the general consensus on the Amazon? I quite like them and know 2 owners who rate the diesel version very highly. What's everyones opinion?
My main reason for having a 3rd Gen, is the hatch back tail gate.
The split tale gate on the 2nd Gen is not so good for the dogs getting in and out . Plus the option of full time 4WD is a big bonus up here in the highlands.
the plastic is irrelevant,i love the my 3rd gen, my one problem is i tend to try to drive it like my soarer and usually it never fails to impress,i'm amazed at the cars it will leave standing at the lights, the low/mid tourque is amazing, no real topend but then its not a sports car, and i dread to think the weight mine is carrying every day so without that it probably would handle like a sports car, i can spin the back wheels in the dry even with all the weight and a lsd. 3ltr 3rd gen for me.
