Been given the run around by his/her insurance co. who say he has not made a claim .The Mondeo left on a recovery truck .
In my last job I was an Insurance assessor/engineer dealing with this rubbish all day . I have now had to inform my Insurance co. and possibly have a total loss .I can keep the salvage but it will be logged as a Cat D on the log book , devaluing this 'classic' . I wanted to deal direct with Mr/Mrs Patel's insurance so this could be dealt with cash or contract so no Cat D on log book .

Back round to Patel's with my sledghammer handle ...................'Hello Patel '.................... .......................... ..................... 'I slipped and hit you several times !'

Well at least it is not as valuable as some of the other members Surfs , but it is a 'classic' to me as only a few in the country .

This is why I did not want a Surf/4Runner as vehicles are always being hit on this street , especially this juntion . 4 write offs in last 3 years due to speeding and cutting the corner .If my old company Astra was hit I think it would have ended up on top of Tam's RAV4 as I used to park it where the Runner is . Then she would be angrier then me !!

As you say it may not be hughly valuable in the monetary sense, but I fully agree with you on the classic theme. Personally it always seems I'm at least a decade or two behind in terms of appreciating cars, so can fully see its value to you, its unfortunate that its hard to have insurance co's accept this.
If I were fortunate enough to have a 1st Gen I would indeed be very p'd off in your situation.

Thanks to everyone for the support . I told the young girl at the Insurance co. it would be hard to replace as took me 9 months to find (yeah right !) and she agreed I possibley would struggle to find another . I also explained I got a good deal on purchase (thanks again Sumo's) due to MOT due and brake reline etc ...... I know it will make no difference to value but does indicate to my fellow Insurance engineer that it has improved the vehicle and should be part of 'servicing' but I will put the point of a lower purchase price on these points .
Never know they may repair it if they can find the bits if we do not settle the value .

I hate it when **** like this happens - especially when it involves uninsured drivers, has happened to me in the past. Good luck getting it sorted out mate - you'll have to post a list of the bits you need.
