Thought that this might be a bit of a good idea, then found out that Vege oil costs about twice as much a diesel over here.

it's better to do it that way and then fiddle how much you've used and pay less tax! at least then if you get pulled it's all legal!
Not too sure about mixing with kero making it legal, as duty would still need to be paid on the vegoil element of it, come to that, I doubt that duty for motor use would have been paid on the kerro either.

that's just what they said on the program!... dunno why, it was just to thin it down i think, but you still had to declare it to the tax man.

          what's dinodiesel??

DinoDiesel, is the Diesel that we all know, fossil fuel, dying resource etc. Known in Vegoil/biodiesel circles as Dinosaur Diesel or DinoDiesel. Strictly speaking [Pedantic Head On] Diesel refers to any fuel used to power a compression ignition engine, so the terms BioDiesel, DinoDiesel, BlackDiesel, GreenDiesel, YellowDiesel etc had emerged [/Pedantic Head Off ]

Well I've done it. Tried a 50/50 mix veg to diesel and she runs like a dream. Engine sounds quieter and no change in performance. Cheapest veg oil 47p ltr from lidl.

                      Good man Steve

I've not gone as high a % vegoil in these temps (but I'm about to).

Make sure to read up on the various sites for more cold weather info.

Have you changed your fuel filter recently ? the veg can loosed some dirt from the bottom of the tank when first used, so have a spare handy. Having said that, I had changed mine just prior to starting to use veg and have had no problems.

Enjoy the new smell from your exhaust !!

Well not that I've noticed too much. gave it a run and then left it ticking over on the drive, had a good sniff of the fumes. Did smell a little sweeter but nothing like a chip shop. Starts fine from cold and runs gr8, quieter and no power loss.

Will give better report after the weekend as got a couple of good runs to do, will give it a blast. Intend to use 50/50 and see what happens.

I have just changed all filters so should be fine on that score.

As for 2.4, cant see why not but DONT take my word for it.

                            veg oil

yes we are talking new oil at if i remember 37p/ ltr at kwick save. You can use used oil but it must be filterd over and over again in very fine filters, akin to the spray paint cone filters used in good body shops, but it must be warmed up to enable it to pass through the very fine paper. Agood site to try with other links is, veg-oil-car.com. Best of luck!!!!!

a 50/50 mix at 75p/litre for diesel and 47p/litre for vegoil is equal to 61p per litre of diesel/veg mix, equivalent to saving of 23%, so 22mpg would cost the same as 27mpg (22x1.23), 24mpg=29.5mpg etc......or £10.00 worth of fuel would cost £8.13. For me, this represents a saving of about £7.50 a week, so it's not really worth it for me, someone using £100 per week would save £18.70, is it worth the hassle?
