    Come the Revolution!!!

I was once a supporter of the current opposition party, but then I grew up and realised that they're all the same. The only reason I continue to vote is that I believe that those who don't vote give up the right to complain about how the government/council run things.

I'm with you completly ONE TAX, however all my mates say thats not fair on a non smoking, tea total, bus riding, 13 year old single mum.

Personally its these two paragraphs that stood out

will the Government set an example by resisting pressure to reduce duty as a way of encouraging a reduction in consumption?

Lord Davies of Oldham: My Lords, the Government are committed to meeting the Kyoto targets and are using duty differentials to encourage the use of cleaner fuels. That has been part of the policy of duty provision over the past seven years. I hear what my noble friend says about recommending that the Chancellor should increase the duty, but other voices in the House may think differently.

Maybe just the reason why prices are so high???

Trust the Brits - we obey all the rules. There is not much point in being committed to the Kyoto targets if the USA and China, the worlds two biggest oil users have not even signed up to it. It's a bit like us cutting back in order for them to use more and us being taxed for the privilige.
