  • Most mods done, don't she look good

Well I think I'm coming to the end of the external mods.
In order to replace the damged rear shock I've ftted a 2" lift with nitrogen shocks.
The four spots have been fitted on the 'A' bar with the fogs under the valance, each pair of lights has it's own relay, with 2 additional relays allowing you to switch on the fogs, the dip adjusted spots (the inner two), or with the main beam all of them.
The number plate that got smashed at Salisbury has been replaced, but this one has two sheets of steel behind it, we'll see how it fairs next month.
The rear has a high level brake light fitted, with two working (reversing) lights feed from a seperate fuse box I fitted in the rear, with it's own clean feed.
The back also has a custom built storage system.
What isn't show is I also fitted a 4 sensor revering aid, so hopefully I won't reverse into any structures that have been standing since the 1950's (ie. my own carport).

Pictures attached, I think when the tyres get low on tread I might need 32" as the 31"s now look a bit small in the arches.

    Silly question time:

I`ve got the same spots (nice and cheap ) how do you get one set to be used aas dipped as well as full beam ?

    nice looking truck btw.

The outer two spots only come on when main beam is on (there will be an isolating switch somewhen in the future on the dash), and I've adjusted just above the main beam light pattern (it helps to spot the New Forest ponies before they spot me). The inner two spots are on a different relay with it's own switch on the dash, they have been adjusted so the light pattern hits just below the dip pattern (I thought it would look good when offroading). There is also another relay between the two, so when main beam is on both sets of spot iluminate (along with the fogs) so when I flash you know it.
Really I got a bit carried away and there is six relays just to do the auxillary front lights how I wanted, I'm debating getting a floor switch to flash the dip spots and fogs, as I feel abit ashamed about flashing people at the moment (I think I've got carried away).

I've just spotted what area of the country your from, love the area we visit Kinloch Rannoch every year, and will back up at Easter.

Yes I found them on a shelf at Halfrauds two years back, they were not in any packaging and were on special, I just liked the look, haven't seen them on sale again anywhere.

Cheers for that. I`ve got a mechanic coming to work with us as of February who is also an electrical engineer, so I`ll get him to work out whats best for everything. I find my stock headlights to be useless

Kinloch Rannoch is a lovely area, I was at a job interview about 2 months ago for the Forestry supervisor for the Kinloch Rannoch/Tummel Valley area. Pity i never got it as I would have had all the keys for the forestry gates in the area

Changing the stock wiring allowing a feed straight from the battery ?

I read something, but I don`t have a scooby about electrics. I work on agricultural machines, when electrics fail, we mostly just forget about what they were used for

As i said, I`ve only two weeks and we have a guy who is supposed to be top notch, so I`ll let him wire stuff up the way he see's fit.

yeah, gist is that the stock wires are so thin you get resistance and volt drop so use that to power a relay and have that switch a direct feed from the battery on a better wire... but shouldn't go tinkering if you don't know how.

                      Hi
Love the pots and the number plate that reads blowjobs (well it does in my head..)

Quick question-where can you buy those rear wire guard/frame type things and i'm assuming that the 'hatch' in the wire frame has a door or something?
                      Cheers

That rear guard is to keep the dogs in when the back is down, yep there is a door that goes in the gap, now for the ouch bit, it was custom made by Barjo. A company that specialies in dog guards, crates, ect. They can build anything to your specs (at a cost).
When I got my Surf June 2003 they wanted me to bring them the Surf, as they were finding to many variations or rear end to produce one off the shelf.
They are based in Wokingham, Berkshire phone number 0118 989 0240.
I've just found the invoice, and all in (waterbowl bracket, and non splash water bowl included) came to £200.45 in September 2003.

I hope than answers all posible questions. If you need any answers doggy, I'm involved in Border Collie Rescue, so if I don't know, I know people that do. The avater picture is actually one that came in after spending 18 months chanied to a post in a garden, he's now been with us for about 5 years and I won't let him go, hence we now have six dogs of our own.
