        mud's should work better in the snow and they dig in and there much much better them a/t off road unless it's dry and i mean dry the the a/t are better i have a set of each and this is just what i have found and been told

          A/Ts are better in snow as they have more sipes in the tread.
          Mud tyres just fill up with snow and become slicks unless you're going fast enough for the tyres to fling it off.

              I'm curious,
              Out of interest, how does a .5mm-1mm sipe deal with crystalised water, that is prbably wider than the sipe?
              AFAIK, Sipes are designed to allow water to escape when the tyre is pressing down, to avoid aquaplaning.
              I read (somewhere, probably on here) that AT's are better due to their ability to "hold" fresh snow, and then use this held snow to grip the fresh snow it is travelling over... this makes more sense to me. At's have more tread pattern, so more holes to grip snow, etc...
