I have a 3.0 Litre 3rd Gen. Surf which is due a cam belt change. My mechanic said they usually change the water pump at the same time. Is he confused with the 2.4 surf ?

My understanding is that the water pump is driven from a separate belt.

Any advice...

Firstly may I start by saying hello to all members.

Just bought my first Surf and think it's brilliant for the age of the vehicle.

Started the usual service bits, changed oil and filter, fuel filter ( that was fun!!) and air filter.
