3rd Gen Cam Belt Change - Water pump

Hi,

I have a 3.0 Litre 3rd Gen. Surf which is due a cam belt change. My mechanic said they usually change the water pump at the same time. Is he confused with the 2.4 surf ?

My understanding is that the water pump is driven from a separate belt.

Any advice welcome.

You could do it while your doing the belt, just so its done, but you don't need to go anywhere near it doing a cambelt.
